Countdown

Less than two weeks until I get this annoying cast off! Believe me, I'm counting the days. Six weeks is very long without a thumb. I can't wait to wash my hair with two hands again or be able to button up a pair of jeans in less than 1 minute. It's frightening how much you take for granted in life, I know it's a cliché but "you don't realize what you've got until it's gone".. Thumbs up for all the great things in life!

Times are changing

A lot has happened and changed the last few months...

I finished the festival season in September with a few UK festivals and one in Holland. I had never been to Holland before so we went on a day trip to Amsterdam. It was interesting to see the culture, try cheese samples in many of the cheese shops and have a cold beer by the canal. It is a very beautiful city, but it's also easy to get lost, it all looks the same!

During the summer I found out that I got accepted to the University in my home-town in Sweden. After a lot of thought I decided to move back home and study. The night before the big move me and my little european-crew went out with a bang, we danced the night away to Skrillex and The Foo Fighters! A perfect way to finish off another great summer!

Lowlands Festival 2012

 Now I'm a student studying to become a nurse,I want to specialize in paramedics or mountain rescue after the general course. So far I'm doing OK, but life as a student is very different from working. Luckily the Swedish educational system is great and the student benefits are not too bad either. Hopefully I will have time to do a lot of snowboarding anyway. I'm from the north and there's usually plenty of snow here and a lot of small resorts and slopes nearby. Fingers crossed it will be a wicked Swedish winter!

This summer me and my boyfriend are back working with the British company Podpads.We travel around working at music festivals and events all over the UK and a few other european countries. My best friend and partner in crime Anna have also joined our little crew this year. It's going to be so much fun to travel and party with my favourite people.

Siesta! Festival in Hässleholm, Sweden was the first festival of the season for us. I saw a couple of cool bands; american punk legends NOFX which I've seen before and IAMX, a UK electro-rock band, that I'd never heard of - very interesting music and super energetic performance. As always we met a lot of freindly people and it was a good start of the season even though the weather wasn't amazing.

Next stop on the tour will be Hultsfred, I'm  really looking forward to that one! I really wanted to go when I was 16-17 but never had the money. Then the following year when I did have the money the festival got cancelled. But now it is back and I'm finally going! BOOM!

I've been back in Sweden for two weeks now, and as much as I love being back home and to see my family again I have found myself pretty restless. 1 month of holiday/temporary unemployment is definitely enough! I am very excited for the summer-festival-madness to start again!

But in these times of boredom I have found creativity again, and I'm very happy about that. Lately I've started lots of projects from dying my hair pink to sketching, crocheting and sewing. These are all things I used to do all the time before, but never really get around to doing any more. Everyone should definitely take time to let themselves be creative every once in a while. It's a fun way to relax and when you're finished you have something pretty to be proud of (most of the time haha). I will upload some photos of my little may collection soon.

No pain, no gain..

..or something like that. Today I got another tattoo from Tomas at The North Tattoos in Luleå. Tomas has done most of my tattoos and I'm always happy with his work. Whenever I come back to Sweden I make sure to get at little work done. Today's piece is all wrapped up, but I will post a picture of my lovely burlesque girl once it's healed.

I have finally managed to put an edit together. Editing and technology may not be my strongest side so please don't judge. I just tried to make something fun with the footage I had. Snowboarding brings so much  freedom and happiness into my life and I wanted to share that with everyone in video-form! Enjoy!

End of season

This seasons' weather has been completely unpredictable and crazy. It's been snowy, rainy, windy, cold, sunny, rainy, hot, sunny again and then to finish it all off loads of powder!? Sick powder and fun days in the Avoriaz Stah at the end of April? When does that ever happen? This Global warming is seriously messing with us. The lifts closed on the 22nd but with the amounts of snow left up there the resort could definitely have been open for another month! 

Not only did I get some very good days of snowboarding at the end of this season, I also managed to get in a few nice days of skiing. And as wrong as it feels to say this, the skis are growing on me.. Its' never going to be the same as boarding, but the more days I get on skis and the more confident I get, the more fun I have! I even tried some boxes and 180s the last day and had such a good time!

It's been busy lately. Riding until the very last day, end of season parties, farewell dinners and celebrating my 22nd birthday. 

Now when all the fun is over for this season it's time to pack our bags and leave this lovely country with bitter-sweet feelings. 
I've got plenty of footage and photos to go through the next couple of weeks, and I promise to put some goodies up here soon! But now I have to get back to my already seriously overweight-luggage..

Update

It's been three very long weeks in bed watching tv series. No riding and nothing to do.
The weather has stayed amazing, we have pretty much had bluebird every day for 4 weeks. There's also a lot of super fun events going on and I really hate standing on the sideline watching instead of being in the mix. 
There was a local halfpipe competition on today and I could not resist giving it a go. There were prices for best tricks such as airs and hand-plants and mens & ladies best run. 
I won Ladies Best Run and got loads of goodies.

Next friday it's time for the annual Playground Jam, an all-girls slopestyle competition in Chapelle Park in Avoriaz. There is always a good atmosphere and lots of good female riders just having a great day together. I'm really looking forward to that!

I have the Best Boyfriend Ever!

Yesterday he got me these lovely ski-boots as an early birthday present.

My shoulder is getting better day by day and I can't wait to be back on the mountain.

I'm extremely excited to go snowboarding AND skiing soon!

I have wanted to take up skiing again for a few years, but I have never really had the time or money until now. It's gonna be interesting to see if i've still got it. Haha

I am actually starting to feel a lot better. I went up the mountain for a little cruise this weekend and it felt surprisingly good. I will definitely be back in full force in April!

Lady Lumps and Gnarly Bumps

Basically, us Morzine-girls have finally got out act together.                                                               

We're a bunch of ladies riding together every Tuesday (and whenever we can get together). 

Gnarly shedding, filming and and tons of fun! 

Tomorrow there are two competitions in the Arare, Avoriaz and I am super excited after today's sessions. 
First there is a boarder-cross comp and after that Shreddie's feature jam, which is a video-session-jam thing with a very laid back vibe. Sweeet! 

By the way, all this recent sunshine has given me a pretty good goggle-tan. 
And it's only end of February!!! My face is going to look bad in another two months ha-ha!

Crazy days.

Morzine has been really busy lately, half of Europe seems to be here on half-term holiday.
The weather has been amazing with lots of sun, blue skies and temperatures up to +15C. But of course with busy town comes a lot of work. I've already got two cleaning jobs to keep me busy, but one of the girls that I work with in a catered chalet has broken her hand so now I've got some extra stuff to cover too. Today I was cleaner, kitchen-bitch and waitress, pretty hectic day. Some much needed cash are finally rolling in though. Kaa-chiiing!
Some good friends from the summer-festival-madness are going to be here this week too. The forecast looks really promising with bluebird until Friday, it's going to be a good week.

My dear friend Mary has come out to visit. I am so excited she's here! 

I haven't seen her in ages. We go way back and we share a lot of good memories. We were partners in crime back in the Vännäs-days.But these days we don't have time to catch up as often as we would like. At least now we got two whole weeks in front of us packed with riding, gossip, red wine and Mützig! Yeaaahhh!

Bad timing

Why is it ALWAYS dumping neige on the weekends, when i'm WORKING!?

It is really annoying to constantly miss out on amazing powderdays, 

although I did have a pretty good one yesterday. 

It was total whiteout at the top, super windy and it NEVER stopped snowing!

Despite the weather I had loads of fun bouncing around the Lindaret trees with the boys.
