Christmas x2

Swedish Christmas dinner with Sus, Jo, Beef & Chaz

One of the many good things about having an English boyfriend is that I get to celebrate Christmas twice! In Sweden we celebrate on Christmas-eve and we call it Julafton. We eat lots of good food with family and friends and we open our presents in the evening.
In the UK it is pretty much the same thing, just swap the ham for a turkey and do the presents and eating in reversed order.
But I get to do it all back-to-back which is AWESOME!
Hope you all had a lovely Christmas too and I wish you a happy new exiting year!

Stormy weather!

Mother nature is showing her dark side. Yesterday was horrible, very wet and windy.
It was pretty windy today too, but most lifts were running. The snow was dumping down but because of zero visibility I only stayed up for a couple of hours.
Tomorrow the whole area will be closed because of stormy weather. The forecast says 30-50 cm of snow tomorrow only, and more throughout the weekend. Crazy days!

First day riding in Avoriaz

The lifts in Avoriaz are running!
I had a great first day on the slopes with my house-mates Sus & Charlie.

Time to get dirty

Sometimes life is not as glamorous as you would want it to be.
And sometimes you have got to bite the bullet.
Today I did my first clean of the season, I am now officially a cleaning lady
I will be working 2-3 days a week so I will still get lots of fun-time on the mountain
It may not be the most fun job the world but the $ will open up doors for new adventures.

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow.

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow.
It is snowing and Avoriaz is opening on the 10th. Can't wait to go riding!

It is time!

Finally! In less than 10h we will be on our way to this paradise, Avoriaz. I took this photo in 2009, that was an amazing winter with lots of snow and lots of good memories. Unfortunately it doesn't look like this now, there is a massive lack of snow in Europe at the minute. But the forecast says snow towards the weekend and beginning of next week. Fingers crossed!
Today I have been freaking out all day trying to fit my belongings for the next 5 months in 2 x 23kg. It may sound like a lot but somehow packing gets harder and harder every season. Anyway, everything is sorted and the train to the airport leaves at 03:45, hopefully everything will go smoothly tomorrow. Can't wait to see the mountains!

Dear people of the world,

This is my attempt to share a bit of my life story.

My name is Victoria Bergqvist, but to most people I'm known as Vickie.
I grew up in the north of Sweden in a very ordinary Swedish small-town.
Like most people who grew up in a small-town, I had to get out.

After discovering snowboarding in 2001 I knew that I had found my one true LOVE.
I went on to study at Vännäs Snowboardgymnasium (Liljaskolan).
During my three years in Vännäs I got to know some of the most amazing people.

I had the most fun possible whilst still 'in school'  haha and everything revolved
around snowboarding.

After I'd finished school I just wanted more snow, bigger mountains and more fun.

I flew off to France with a couple of my best friends for my first winter season abroad.

Since then I have spent a lot of time snowboarding in France and a winter in America

to finally end up living in England with my boyfriend Michael. We are planing on going
out to France again in December and when we do I will tell you all about it!
